Vans Brand Anthem Parade

Joel Fox and Ross Harris - Direction and Creative Direction     Produced by F360

Want to make a parade celebrating the spirit of a fun and classic Vans brand??? YES!

Vans approached Ross and I to bring this party to life. We started from the ground up, planning the parade and working on the creative with the Steve Zeitzoff and Jared Abe at Vans. We designed floats, costumes, lineups, and oversaw the construction. Vans artists were also invited to build their own floats and bring them into the mix. Dennis McNett built one of his iconic Pirate ships, we had a skateable pool float that gave good air, giant piñata head costumes of skate heros (who were also in attendance), a marching band, giant shoe costumes, walk around trees, Muno, a foot and ankle go-cart, even a mosh pit and float for band Muncipla Waste.

The float with biggest footprint in the parade was the giant high-top classic Vans shoe, driven by Steve Van Doren, godfather of the brand. We oversaw the design and building of the shoe and it continues to make appearences in magizines and events.
The spirit and energy of the parade came from the crowd who came to party. Some of the world’s most legendary surf, bmx, skaters of all time like Christian Hosoi and Steve Caballero came out, as well as costumed Vans’ staffers and supporters. It was an insane parade party on a bridge in downtown LA!
